I love Farina. They have the best Italian food this side of the apennine. When Marco & Clinton decided to get married in San Francisco, Farina was the first place that came to mind.

The reason to come here is the food. Marco, Clinton and their guests are severe gastronomes so I knew the food had to be impeccable. Farina's handmade pastas are light and perfectly al dente. Their pesto is very genovese and will delight even non-pesto lovers. The focaccia, hand-crafted by their Master Baker, is heavenly. Every single dish that came out of their kitchen was perfect (see menu below). They have wonderful wine list and Marco delighted in pairing the dishes to the wines for the entire evening. The service was out of this world: timing was perfect and there was never a lapse in service.

Farina has a private room upstairs leads to the roof terrace and has a maximum capacity of 20 seated guests for dinner. Perfect for an intimate affair. The roof terrace is still "under construction" and not quite as gorgeous as it should be as they are still waiting for permits. They could definitely use some heat lamps outside to take off the summer nip. Bond's Peter Gravener utilized the small space and created a very chic Tuscan atmosphere.

Unfortunately, we were working with Farina's event planner who was not very helpful or professional. This was the first wedding held here and she was not equipped to handle such an event. The pricing for the menu doubled at some point and we were about to switch venues at the last minute. The communication and diplomatic skills of their event planner almost lost them the business. Fortunately, she was not there that evening and it all proceeded smoothly.

Farina is quite pricey and even as a regular diner prices seem to fluctuate greatly. The food is definitely worth it but they really need to nail down some things in order to do weddings well here.
